Meet the Teacher


Kasey Lane Kirkup is a passionate educator in Ottawa, Canada... and online!

Kasey is currently a Teacher Candidate (Intermediate/Senior Stream) in the University of Ottawa's Bachelor of Education program to become an Ontario Certified Teacher in the Spring of 2022. Kasey holds a Bachelor of Journalism with Combined Honours in Law and Legal Studies from Carleton University where she was awarded a Senate Medal for Outstanding Academic Achievement. Kasey's formal teachables are English and History for Grade 7-12 students, but she carries experience in a wide range of language and social studies subjects including English as a Second Language, Law, Politics and Civics.

Kasey has spent time leading lessons in person and virtually through her practicum at a local Ottawa high school and online on a variety of platforms including via Zoom, Google Meet, Outschool and VIPKid (English as a Second Language classes to students in China). In Kasey's final year of undergraduate studies, she worked as a Teaching Assistant for a second year Constitutional Law class and a first year Introduction to Legal Studies class. In this role she marked assignments and exams, proctored, met one-on-one with students who had questions while leading and developing weekly hour-long discussion groups. Kasey has also tutored English and social studies to a variety of different age groups and has been hired on contracts to lead online writing clubs for parent groups.

Kasey launched her online education business in June 2020 and received warm reception from both students and parents alike.

Kasey has worked with many different students with various learning needs and strives to build and maintain strong relationships with each student she meets. She is committed to creating a warm and caring environment in her online classroom and is dedicated to getting to know your learner and helping them succeed!
